Pots and containers — size matters
Коротко: Too small a pot is the most common reason for poor harvest. Each species has minimum capacity requirements — ignoring them leads to frustration.
Pot size determines your harvest
Minimum capacities:
- Cherry tomato: 15–20 L
- Large-fruited tomato: 25–30 L
- Pepper: 10–15 L
- Balcony cucumber: 12–15 L
- Basil (plant): 3–5 L
- Strawberries: 4–5 L per plant
Why size is so important:
- Little growing medium = quick drying = constant water stress
- Rapid nutrient depletion
- Cramped roots = restricted growth
Rule: Choose a larger container if you're unsure. Too big practically doesn't exist. Too small — definitely does.
