DIY Drip Irrigation — A Garden That Waters Itself
Summer, work, vacation — and tomatoes without water for two days are already in serious stress. A drip system solves this problem once and for all.
What to buy (cost approx. 50-100 PLN for a 10m bed):
- Drip hose (drip line): 5-8 PLN/m
- Tap or barrel splitter: 5-15 PLN
- Connectors and end caps: a few PLN
- Timer valve (optional): 60-80 PLN — key upgrade
Step-by-step installation:
- Run the drip hose along the plant row on the soil (or under mulch)
- End with a cap or tie
- Connect to tap with splitter
- Run for 45-60 minutes in the morning
Rainwater barrel version:
Barrel on gazebo or shed roof + drip hose = gravity irrigation without electricity and without tap.Drip system advantages:
- Water reaches roots, not leaves → dramatically fewer fungal diseases
- Water usage 30-70% less than watering can irrigation
- Turn it on and you can leave
80 PLN upgrade that changes everything:
Digital timer valve for tap — set the hours and system works without you. Worth every penny if you have more than one bed.zielnamanufaktura.pl
