Variety selection:
Not every tomato is suitable for the balcony. Look for determinate (bush) or compact varieties.

Balkonstar, Tumbling Tom, Sweet Million — suitable
Avoid large-fruited varieties

Container:
Minimum 15 L, optimally 20 L. Below that — the plant is under constant stress.

Location:
Minimum 6–8 hours of direct sun. South or east-facing balcony — ideal.

Watering:
In July-August daily or every two days. Mulch on top of the pot reduces evaporation.

Fertilizing:
Every 10–14 days tomato fertilizer (rich in potassium). Soil in containers depletes quickly.

Training:
Bush varieties don't require removing side shoots and don't need stakes.
