In short: A greenhouse is the dream of many gardeners. Before spending 500–5000 PLN — it's worth knowing what it realistically changes and what it doesn't in the Polish climate.
Greenhouse — Real Benefits and Limitations
What a greenhouse provides:
- Earlier start (February–March instead of May)
- Tomatoes and peppers without blight
- Protection from frost and hail
- Overwintering perennial plants
What it won't solve:
- Lack of sunlight — won't help in a shaded plot
- Lack of time — more work than ground beds
Types:
- Mini shelf unit (50–150 PLN): seedlings and pots
- Frame greenhouse 4–8 m² (300–800 PLN): 4–6 tomato plants, good start
- Aluminum greenhouse 8–20 m² (800–5000 PLN): serious cultivation
Key detail: Ventilation. Without ventilation windows on a sunny day = cooked plants.
